Service Objective of Community Development Service

 

The Serviceˇs objective is to organize and facilitate the service users to understand and resolve their common issues and needs.  During the process of collective participation, the service are encouraged to take collective responsibilities for their actions and to exercise their civic rights to enhance their ability and confidence, and to jointly build a society that is fair, just, harmonious and with mutual help spirit.

  • Residents living in different types of geographic communities (e.g. squatter areas, public housing estates, fishermenˇs village, rural areas, old urban areas and new towns)

  • Groups with special needs (e.g. labour, women, Asian migrant domestic helpers, newly arrived families, unemployed, single parent families and mentally ill persons, etc.)

Caritas Community Development Service

  NEWS

An alternative for those being unemployed over 3 months and aged over 35

Self-employment Cooperative Project

Content: the concept of self-employment, cooperation with partners to start a business, methods of opening market, skills of customer service

 

Participants can choose from the following training:

1) office cleaning 2) clothe-mending 3) book selling 

4) domestic helpers 5) baby-sitting

Free of charge

With 3 monthsˇ practicum,

helping the participants to learn the skills and confidence through practice

 

Requirement:

  •   aged over 35
  •   being unemployed over 3 months
  •   to attend an individual interview

 

The training will start in December 2001
