In the lighting ceremony, the distinguished guests put cards representing care, warmth, nourishment, hope, knowledge and light onto the ceremonial stage. This symbolized essential services Caritas provided to the community, as well as echoed the theme of the Show, "Walking Together to Light up Lives". Then His Eminence Cardinal John Tong, the retired Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong played the violin to accompany the first performance: "You Raise Me Up", sung by Vivian Koo, the St. Margaret's Church choir and students of Doris Chui School of Ballet.
The hosts for the evening were Ms Elizabeth Wang, Mr Luk Ho Ming and Ms Roxanne Ho. The Show was divided into eight sections according to Caritas’ history and services. Each section featured a live orchestra and singing performances. The Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra were conducted by Chief Music Officer Mr. Tsui Ying Fai, while Mr. Johnny Yim acted as the music director for the show.
This year's TV Show featured a lineup of renowned singers, including Nancy Sit, Gin Lee, Mike Tsang, Joey Wong, Gigi Yim, Kayee Tam, James Ng and Dark Wong. Albert Chau, Stacey Long, Bill Ng, Benson Ngan, Ramon Lo, Miranda Lee from "Midlife, Sing & Shine!" Janees Wong from "Stars Academy 2", pianist Colleen Lee and Huqin player Chan Pik Sum also showcased their talents. Their captivating performances immersed the audience in a splendid musical feast. Although artists Hins Cheung, Daniel Chan and Kenny Chung were unable to attend the show in person, they expressed their support for Caritas through recorded videos.
To collect public donations, Caritas Charity TV Show was sponsored by Make The Right Call, which provided 78 hotlines. What's more, a generous donor contributed another huge sum, matching every dollar donated. Throughout the night, the hotline centre was buzzing with phone calls, as many kind-hearted benefactors called to pledge donations. Once again, our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the numerous donors for their generous contributions, which brought care and warmth, as well as a brighter future to people in need.
