Recently, we have noticed that a suspected scam group is trying to obtain personal data of citizens through the following fraudulent message: "For donation of $30 to Caritas-Hong Kong, a cash rebate will be received."
We hereby state that Caritas has not collaborated with any group or organization in fundraising events involving rebates.
On learning about the fraud attempts, we have immediately conducted an investigation to ensure the security of the online donation system in our official website. The public can rest assured that all personal information provided during the donation procedures will be handled with care and strict confidentiality.
We urge citizens to remain vigilant to protect their personal information. In case of suspected fraud or having any doubts, please take appropriate actions, such as calling the "Anti-Scam Helpline 18222" or reporting to the police for help.
